30 December 2010

even though my dad generally works out of home, he does have an office in new york.  he went in yesterday, so i tagged along.  while he spent his time working, i walked to the MoMA and of course had a marvelous time.  there was tons of fantastic art {hellloooo abex exhibit} which is always a good thing.
i figure you guys can look up the artworks online, so instead of posting those pictures, i'm going to post the ones i took of other people looking at the art.  maybe it's creepy {ok, it definitely is}, but i love watching other people interact with art.

ok, i couldn't resist: some art pictures
one more reason the east coast is the best coast.

blah blah blah.
but really, i do love these.

rain in summer
december is always an interesting month.

in case you're wondering {and i know you are}, belated christmas gifts/early new year's gifts are always accepted.

26 December 2010

reason #46758 why my home ward is better than any student ward

sacrament meeting was in korean, tongan, and english today.
the best part is, that's nothing to be surprised by.

thank you, sister, for appeasing me :)
{featuring my new shoes}

a very merry christmas to everyone

paige and i scored sweet onesies!

home and lovin' it

just heels and tights.
pants are always optional.

current celebrity i wish i were/have a girl crush on

just saw romeo and juliet for the first time while waiting for my flight yesterday {was that really released in 1996? i feel like the internet is playing a joke on me}.
besides, she's also in my all time favorite movie, little women, and tons of other great ones like the hours and stardust.
and she was originally considered to play rose in titanic.
and she's not one of those annoying "i'm so pretty and awesome and talented so pay attention to meeee" celebrities, which makes me like/hate her for being awesome.

23 December 2010

totes blogging from the airplannnne.
thank you delta/chrome for the free wifi.

also, the best idea i've ever had was bringing movies to watch while waiting at the gate. i did get there 4 hours early, after all.

ps-- look who i ran into! not only we were on the same flight, but we sat next to each other! and i thought i wouldn't run into anyone i know...i should have known better. because i know everyone. or so it feels.

oh goodness airplane lighting isn't the best.

22 December 2010

blue blue christmas

turns out i wasn't the only one left in provo tonight. due to extremely unfortunate flight cancellations, the ever so lovely alex and haley were still in town, too.  what  better way to celebrate than by playing games, eating food, & watching movies...all while decked out in avatar face paint of course!

i would also like to thank them in advance for driving me tomorrow to the very place that broke their hearts yesterday... the airoporto. grazie!

just what the doctor ordered

yesterday was exactly what i needed. natalie, her parents, and i went to the motab christmas concert featuring the one and only david archuleta {whose voice has gotten better over the years. he's honestly really really good.}  afterwards, we had a quick visit with my grandpa, and then went to her home ward.

the best part, though, came after church {can i say that? youknowwhatimean}. we had  a scrumptious home-cooked dinner {helloooo potroast. and rolls. i ate more rolls than her teenage brothers- fo realzy}. and of course a sunday meal almost necessitates a nap afterwords. or in our case, talking/drinking hot chocolate/eating pumpkin bars/falling asleep by the fire.

fireplaces really are winter's redeeming quality

19 December 2010

sunday splendidosity

i have been told on numerous occasions--most recently 2 minutes ago by my roommate's sister-- that i would look good with dark hair.
once, a girl in my ward said, "now, camille, don't get weirded out, but i had a dream about you last night. you had dark hair. and it was super sexy. so yeah, you should think about it."

in other news, i'm excited to post about my marvelous day today.  just gotta find a scanner first.

18 December 2010

it's amazing how 12 hours of sleep and then waking up to funny text messages from ashley can make you feel better.
now for a little christmas shopping. retail therapy always works.

grace's farewell fete

the lovely grace is soon departing to teach in france next semester, which will be followed by a few-weeks long adventure in africa.  in her honor, jourdan and i {ok, mostly jourdan} threw a "we're going to miss you/are extremely envious of you" party.

the night included gluten-free cupcakes and poetry and candlelight. i wish i knew more about poetry. fortunately, mon ami dan is something of an expert and was able to hook me up with a poem or two.  i read one art by elizabeth bishop. {ps, sorry about the awk. double spacing. can't get rid of it.}

The art of losing isn't hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.

Lose something everyday. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn't hard to master.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.

I lost my mother's watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three loved houses went.
The art of losing isn't hard to master.

I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,
some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.
I miss them, but it wasn't a disaster.

--Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture
I love) I shan't have lied. It's evident
the art of losing's not too hard to master.
Though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster.
i wish you all the happiest of weekends. don't ignore your friends.
reading you loud and clear

congrats to my roommate sydney who opened her long-awaited mission call tonight!
tucson, arizona better get pumped!

mission call!

14 December 2010

tonight i went to elevate, this super rad triathlon gym in orem.  my brother's been trying to get me to come along with the team for ages, but i've legitimately been busy. that and nervous. i mean, let's be honest people. i'm no triathlete. i wouldn't even call myself a mono-lete.

but i went, and even though running on a treadmill as opposed to in the beautiful out-of-doors should be considered a mild form of torture, it was good! and the team didn't judge my in-or-out-of-shapeness. happy day.

basically, go check out elevate.

12 December 2010

how i spent the majority of my weekend:

make-up free & in sweats & skyping with my sister.

skype weekend face

11 December 2010

i love the attention and all...

isn't it supposed to mean that someone is thinking of you when you sneeze a lot?

please, for the love of all that is good, please stop thinking of me people! this 17-sneezes-in-a-row thing is getting ridiculous!

10 December 2010

the good kind of nervous and excited and happy.

08 December 2010

Christmas work party!

thank you, job, for giving me lots of free food and free money tonight at the party.
mmm life's great.
Work Party!

05 December 2010

cabin pictures

here we are being awesome in middle-of-nowhere oakley.

we went sledding/snowboarding/shoveling {or watched people do that for those of us who went once, and still have a sore neck and ankle from the awesome landing}

we buried jordan in the snow

we swung on "the mullets" swing set. maybe i shouldn't post that, lest they find out it was us!

some cool kids in the mountains
love us! we are so cool!

sunday gratitude list

so i know thanksgiving was more than a week ago, but i figure it's ok to feel grateful more than one day a year.

today i am grateful for:
the comments in relief society & answered prayers.

04 December 2010

a new trend

there's something about those first weekends in december that apparently mean me + attractive person of the opposite gender + mountains + snow adventures.

not that i mind of course. hopefully pictures will posted soon, and then i can put them here.
definitely worth hurting my leg while sledding.

last year's adventures can be viewed {here} and {here}

03 December 2010

newest employee

ummmm i can't even tell you how excited that i am that ashley has just been hired to work at my office.
the noise level is about to go up. a lot. i think anybody who worked at the springville museum of art while we interned there can attest to that.

cupcakes + museums + interns = love
