I MET FLOTUS!!

The great thing about meeting FLOTUS is that I just wasn't expecting it!!! It was a total surprise!!

There I was, walking to Trader Joe's to get a loaf of bread, and I just happened to look to my left, and there she was!!

She was just so friendly.  Seeing her smiling face through the glass (kind of weird that she insisted on staying behind that window) gave me the confidence boost I needed that I would indeed find the loaf of bread for which I searched.

I came out victorious from that trip, in more ways than one.  Not only did I leave with some bread, but I left with a renewed sense of confidence in Mrs. Obama's caring for my health.

Kind if hard to see, but I totally ran into FLOTUS at her day job today!

Thanks, FLOTUS!

Jimmer Jimmer, Chicken Dinner

See what I did there? I replaced the word "Winner" with "Jimmer."  How fitting, considering that the Kings beat the Wizards last night!  It was my first time seeing Jimmer, since that whole thing happened after I had graduated.  Thanks to the Whitings and Jacksons for telling me about it, and thanks to Stephanie, Jennifer, and Ceri for coming along, too!

I bought tickets mostly to see Jimmer for the first time.  @__nif__ @rays318

Weekend Update

I did other things besides Jonathan's birthday party this weekend:

I found this tea at the store.  I didn't buy it because I thought it looked gross, but will someone out there try it and let me know what they think?

Weekend

I went to my friend Bianca's birthday party...and took pictures with Stephanie and Jordan.

And the last thing I did that I have photographic proof of is that I took a nap.  "But wait, Camille, how do you have a photo of yourself sleeping?" Easy, my roommate is basically Edward.

JDawg's Surprise Party!

Yesterday was Jonathan's birthday!!  Beth organized a surprise party, and we had emails going back and forth with subject lines like "Pssst. Here's the info" so we were pretty much like spies.  Thank goodness Jonathan apparently doesn't even look at Beth's email, otherwise the surprise would have been out so fast.

Beth made some awesome decorations.  You know that she loves her man because she baked for the first time ever (I mean, Beth, how did you even earn your Young Woman's award??)...but the cakes were baked in frying pans so that's the Beth I know and love.

Our shouting of SURPRISE was a little off, but oh well.

When I was putting candles in the cakes, I decided to put them in both cakes and not just one, purely to make it harder for Jonathan to blow them all out in one breath. LOVEYOU

Now that the surprise is out...HAPPY BIRTHDAY @jce37!! @bethaevans

Also, there was a Jonathan Jeopardy game and I SMOKED it!! I know so much about Jonathan!! Slash if I wasn't sure, I would just pick the weirdest answer and that was usually right.  Someone asked me if he and I were siblings, what with my stunning knowledge of his life and our bantering comments quickly followed up with a JKILOVEYOU.  We're technically not, but with the Cambridge Crew, we may as well be.  Good thing Beth is part of that crew and knows I'm not trying to steal her man away (or am I? Thanks for being born, Jonathan :) I'm so happy we are friends :)

It's Friday

If a dream is a wish your heart makes when you're fast asleep, then apparently my biggest wish is to be a Bolt Bus driver.  Well, actually it's to be the co-pilot to Leslie's pilot, but that detail makes me seem even more lame (I wouldn't even be the main driver in my wildest dreams?)

/via/

I have two new fabulous roommates (in addition to the already fabulous Eve)! We all hang out and stuff! One thing I forgot about getting new roommates...everybody syncing up.  Which means that my emotions and hormones have been a little wild. (But I still stand by that the sucker-punch-to-the-gut feeling I had in the middle of the week was real as I saw boy-that-I-accidentally-started-to-like-who-knows-that-I-like-him-evidently-decided-that-he-doesn't-like-me-back-anymore-without-telling-me flirting with some other girls, and looking so fine while he did it.)

/makes me think of that time I went to Holland/

Why is it so cold??  I'd say "Not Cool" but I feel like that's kind of the problem...it's too cool. I bet this person owns this dog.

I've been trying to be better at my relationships (romantic and otherwise), and I read two articles this week that I LOVED. This first one is from the BYU Women's Resource Center...I rolled my eyes, too, but I promise that it is amazing!  This second one is from Elder Holland and it's great and funny and I was going to run out and buy Othello to read last night but got caught up doing laundry instead.

I've got some fun plans tonight, if it's not too cold tomorrow I'll have fun plans tomorrow, and Sunday, well, Sunday is always Funday (seriously, click that link).

Eastern Market

Also this past weekend, I went to Eastern Market with a bunch of friends.

The group picture was posted to el FB, and since I'm no longer a 'Booker, just imagine a photo of well-dressed creative and intellectual women and smart med students and a few interns that still look like they belong in Webelos.

Eastern market

I got some art and bluebucks pancakes (not to be confused with this) and a necklace, which are basically the 3 best things ever.

Eastern market

One of the highlights of the morning was Seth's crossword.  I was called in for my art expertise, but despite our medium-sized group, no one knew what beer was made in.  Whitney literally stopped this guy in his 60's at the market and asked him, "Excuse me sir, what is beer made in?".  He looked really confused until I mentioned we were doing a crossword and we also didn't drink. The answer is...well I don't rightly remember, other than it started with an O I think.

Inauguration 2013

I learned how to spell the word inauguration thanks to Twitter.

Getting to go to the inauguration was a last minute thing!  I'd been bemoaning the fact that I didn't have tickets, and then BAM, thanks to some friends, Sunday night at 9:30 I had tickets in my hand!

We woke up at 4:45 am!!!! By 6:05, I was in line with the other Yellow ticket holders.  It took just under an hour to make it through security, and luckily I made some friends since the other girls were all in the Orange section.  Watching the sun rise over the Capitol building is a beautiful thing, folks.

Just got through security
#inauguration2013 #DCLife

I made it up as far as I could in my section and made friends with this cute and sassy 4-year-old girl.  Once her family left (about 15 minutes later) and I was friendless and I realised just how cold it was up front without tons of people surrounding you and blocking the wind, I had serious second thoughts about being there.  I somehow made my way through the crowds to the very back of the section where there were fewer people.  And then I sat under a tree for a few minutes while I evaluated if I could last for another 4 hours.  BUT THEN a miracle happened and my friend Jeff was somehow able to recognize me sitting by the tree, all bundled up and a touch grumpy, and I had friends!! And we played card games (I won them all!)!! And it was happy and fun!!

Love & HedgeHUGS

Look what I found while strolling around Georgetown buying lunch  & cupcakes yesterday:

Hedgehugs! I am dying over how cute this is!

If you just died from how cute this is, you are not alone.

Georgetown Roommates

These are some girls that I'm very, very thankful for right now.
Although, having 3 blondes is really messing us up.  None of our brains seems to be able to handle that (no blonde jokes!!)  "Eve! I mean, Heidi! I mean, Camille!"  If Ceri dyes her hair, we are really in trouble.

Thrifter Hipster

Once upon a time when I was in about 5th grade, I had this beautiful red plaid skirt that I loved.  I loved it so much that I even wore it when we took this sibling-shot by the cherry blossom tree. (Shout out to Paigey's awesome expression; also, proof that I was taller than Sam at one point.)

Kids with Cherry Bloosom Tree

Once upon another time when it was about two weeks ago, I wore that same beautiful red plaid skirt to work. (Ignore the fact that this is a mirror shot taken in my roommate's room, I was texting it to Jennifer for approval.)

And that's why you invest in clothing. 15ish years of wear, baby.

Rock Climbing Rendez-Vous

Lest you think that ice skating was the only sporty thing about my Saturday, let me learn you about my Saturday morning.

My roommate Eve, you know the super fly one who is smart, sporty, and sassy (Hi, Eve!), has a membership at a rock climbing gym in Rockville (I am not making this up! The ROCK climbing gym really is in ROCKville!).  Heidi and I went along Saturday morning to see what this place was all about.  Eve even made my tea for me in the morning, she really wanted to be sure I made it (Thanks, Eve!)!

Guys, it was awesome!! It was my first time, and I was a little nervous to be with all the hippies who were all profesh (the heights didn't scare me #IAin'tNoSissyWoman), but I had a blast!  I mean, I got to feel like Spiderman!!  We even ran into some friends there!

Georgetown Ice Skating

OK, so maybe I didn't actually skate, but that's because it was so warm outside that there was a ring of water on the ice, and I'm already bad enough at skating as it is that I didn't want to add any extra elements.*  That and there was no one there that I wanted to hold hands with.** Also, they didn't have any Emperor Penguins for adults to skate with.***  Bonus, my AHC friend Leslie came!!****

AHC Grads

Also, there were TONS of doughnuts.  Alyssa was feeding them to the birds, and Jason was throwing bits of doughnut at her feet so that the seagulls would attack Alyssa.  Ah, love.

*pun!
**radio silence is not my fave, and I probably deserve it, but I'd be cool with that ending whenever.
